With the exception of being MD of my current employer DM Hall it would be trading as a sole practitioner building, developing and managing a diverse property portfolio.
What’s the best thing about working in property?
They say variety is the spice of life. Life as a surveyor is certainly diverse and varied. Working for a national multi-disciplined firm you are not sector specific. I have disposed of a variety of properties over my relatively short career ranging from a former bus drivers roadside toilet, to high street retail investments, to trading night clubs to large affluent housing sites 100+ units. The cut and thrust of deal making, meeting new people from different backgrounds and skill sets with varying objectives and attitudes to risk. Analytics – understanding the pro’s / cons, weighing up and valuing both upside and downside risks, processing and rationalising thoughts to reach a conclusion. Bringing parties together to transact and the Summer Golf / Social aspects and events.
